The Mahindra XUV500 AT W6 1.99 mHawk comes with a 1.99-litre diesel engine coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the front wheels. This version was introduced in the national capital region (NCR) after the ban on the sale of cars with diesel engines displacing over 2,000cc came into place last year.

The 1.99 mHawk produces 142PS of power at 3750rpm and 320Nm of torque at 1600-2800rpm. While the power figures remain the same as the larger 2.2 mHawk engine, peak torque output has been reduced by 10Nm. The smaller engine has a fuel efficiency of 16kmpl and a fuel tank of 70-litres which gives it an effective driving range of about 1,100km.

In terms of features, the XUV500 AT W6 1.99 mHawk come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and Android Auto connectivity, projector headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, power foldable and adjustable outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs) and cruise controls.

When it comes to safety, the XUV500 AT W6 1.99 mHawk has driver and passenger airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Hill-Hold and Hill-Descent Control and disc brakes on all four wheels.

However, the W6 variant does miss out on some features offered in the top-spec variants which include power-adjustable drivers seat, automatic climate control, telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel, alloy wheels, fog lamps, side and curtain airbags, leather upholstery, push button stop/start, sunroof and reverse parking camera.

Based on the W6 trim, it is priced at Rs 14.51 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi, as of May 8, 2017) which makes it the most affordable automatic XUV500 in the country. When compared to the XUV500 W6 1.99mHawk with the 6-speed manual gearbox, the automatic variant costs only Rs 60,000 more making it good value-for-money as well.
