The Best Desire

The best way to review a car is to own it because only then you will get to know everything about it. I own a Dzire (ZXi+ AMT) 2017 model and I can say that this is one of the best compact sedans cars in the market. I'll divide the review into PROs and CONs- PROs- 1. Engine- Firstly, The 1.2L K12 naturally aspirated petrol motor is just fantastic. There's a good amount of low-end grunt and the highway performance is great as well. 2.Ride and handling- First of all, the ride quality is good but you can feel the stiffness of the suspension and it makes some noise while dealing with potholes. Now handling is something which I think is the USP of the Maruti Swift Dzire because of the stiff suspension setup and lightweight. The car is very quick with direction changes. Space- It has nailed it with space management and it nearly feels like a C segment sedan. The boot is just about adequate (378L). Features- This car is loaded with features and most of it is important. AMT-AMT or AGS works smoothly with the petrol motor and is smart enough to give a downshift whenever you need one. Brakes-Brakes are very powerful (AMT version) and have saved me several times! Headlamps- The LED with projectors headlamps have a very powerful throw at night Looks- Although looks are subject there's no denying the fact that this is the most proportionate looking compact sedan. Fuel Efficiency- This (petrol) engine is probably the most fuel efficient petrol motor in its class. City FE- 11/kmpl Highway FE- 18/19/kmpl CON's- Build and construction- This is one area where Maruti could do much better. The sheet metal feels light which is not at all suitable in India. The Heartect platform has not performed well in crash tests. Steering wheel-This is another area where Maruti could have done a little better. The steering is light at low speeds and becomes heavy once you pick up the pace but what is missing is feel which is a let down considering that the car is a great handler. Interior plastics-Although the plastics on the upper part feels solid but the plastics used on the lower part is simply pathetic. I will suggest all Dzire customers change the tires if you want better grip and stability. The Bridgestone Ecopia tires offered by the company are only good efficiency and offer very little grip. I have bought Yokohama Earth 1 tires which offer excellent grip. So this was the story of my Dzire, I hope it was helpful to potential and existing buyers. Overall a good experience.
