Mahindra XUV500 is best in this segment due to its high (200mm) ground clearance.The XUV 500 was launched in September 2011, and by June 2012 it was available in 19 cities in India.The XUV500 is powered by a 2.2 litre (2179 cc) "mHawk" turbo diesel engine similar to the one in the Mahindra Scorpio. It develops 140 bhp (104 kW; 142 PS) @ 3750 rpm and torque of 330 N·m (243 lb·ft). The XUV500 can accelerate 0–60 km/h in 5.4 seconds and 0–100 km/h in 12.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 178 km/h. Its fuel economy is 16 km per litre and 13.8 km per liter in city and has a 70-litre fuel tank. The XUV500 was launched in two versions sharing the same engine; the W6 in two-wheel drive only and the W8 which can be specified in two- or four-wheel drive. The W6 includes a 6-inch monochrome infotainment display, two airbags, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), and disc brakes on all wheels. The W8 adds GPS navigation, six airbags, a touch screen, electronic stability program (ESP) with rollover mitigation, Hill Hold and Hill Descent control, alloy wheels, and leather upholstery. The company later added a W4 base variant and after the facelift, they added W10 and W10 AWD and AMT options for W8 and W10. Although mechanically identical to its predecessor, the 2015 model gets a host of cosmetic updates and better-equipped cabin, thus enhancing its overall appeal.The new XUV500 takes a multifunction steering wheel, aluminium pedals, new ambient lighting and new illuminated scuff plates. As for the dual-tone dashboard, it houses a 7-inch touchscreen with Mahindra’s Blue Sense App. The new XUV500 also comes with leather upholstery and a smart key.The new XUV500 has been priced between Rs 11.12 and Rs 15.85 lakh and is available in seven paint schemes – sunset orange, pearl white, rich purple, volcano black, Tuscan red, dolphin grey and modest silver.For 2015, Mahindra has made extensive changes to the exterior design. As a result, the front-end features a new chrome grille and projector headlamps. The fog lamps, too, have been updated with chrome bezels and LED strips. The following treatment is similar to the one seen in the new Scorpio.   The hood gets creases which give it a muscular look while the side profile of the vehicle displays the new 17-inch alloy wheels. Concluding the updates, the windows now get chrome linings for a more luxurious appearance.
