BS stands for Bharat Stage norms. Which actually defines the norms for the cleaner vehicular emissions. If we talk about the difference between BSIV and BSVI, BSVI engines will have less emission of Co2 and Sulphur in the environment. As BSVI engines will have more filters available compared to BSIV.

Actually these are norms to tell sulphur content in fuel, bs IV contains 50 ppm( parts per million) sulphur in fuel which contributes ultimately in air pollution, thus be VI is used in which 10 ppm sulphur is in fuel.
