The Grand Vitara is powered by the same engine options as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder: a 1.5-liter petrol mild-hybrid unit and a 1.5-liter petrol strong-hybrid unit with 103PS and 116PS, respectively. The latter has self-charging technology as well as three driving modes: petrol, hybrid, and pure EV. The CNG variants use the same 1.5-liter petrol engine with the mild-hybrid tech and produce a reduced output of 87.83PS and 121.5Nm. The CNG variants are mated to a five-speed manual only. The mild-hybrid engine gets a five-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission, the strong-hybrid engine only comes with an e-CVT. All-wheel drive is only offered on the top-spec mild-hybrid variant.
