Whenever the name of Toyota comes to the mind, words such as style, comfort, performance, luxury and safety fill our mind. And this trend is sure to follow with all new three new Toyota Etios diesel models. And this particular VXD variant is the top notch of the all three. The Toyota Etios VXD does have a lot of attractions and exciting features to look forward to. It is a C segment car but can give a strong challenge to its competitors. The 4 cylinder 1.4 litre engine ensures that it delivers a powerful performance and economy is extremely surprising and magnificently built. The other specifications like the transmission, suspension or the brakes all are nearly same to those in the other models. There are countless features available in Toyota Etios VXD to give you comfort and safety at its best. It is truly a quality revolutionized product.    

Exteriors

With chrome ornamented front grille and sporty look, this sedan comes in seven colors namely Symphony Silver, Serene Bluish Silver, Celestial Black, Harmony Biege, White and Vermilion Red. The overall length, breath and height measures out to be 4265mm, 1695mm and 1510mm respectively. And the wheelbase is about 2550mm. Also this model has bigger boot space of 595 liters which is quite spacious when you compare it with the petrol variants. The door handles, ORVM (outside rear view mirror) and the front as well as rear bumper all are body coloured. There is also a side protection moulding on the car. The power antenna is equipped on the top of the car. All the alloy wheels are 12 spoke . Although the full wheel caps are not present but the chrome garnish on boot, B-Pillar blacked out, tubeless tyres, front fog lamps and the intermittent wiper do give a good combination for the complete car setup. And the overall weight or the kerb weight comes out to be 1005kg. Plus the chrome finished alloy wheels which if of 15inch size looks magnificently good with this car. One can say that the design and structure of Toyota Etios VXDis pretty basic on this one but sometimes simplicity is unique in its own way.                     

Interiors

The Toyota Etios VXD will left you bedazzled with interiors. The dual tone of Black and red color has been used to do the fabric upholstery which proves out to be a great combination. There are as much as 7 slots in the car to store things or to hold bottle. The rear floor has been designed very cleverly as it has been flattened out which provides great ease for rear passengers to support their legs or some cargo or products. The steering wheel has a little use of leather and provides good grip to the driver. The steering wheel has 3 spoke and with silver accent it looks cool. A digital clock and a tachometer offer some nice touches. The air conditioner cum heater also supports air filter pollens to remove bad odors and give a refreshing environment inside the car. Also some front and rear door pockets have been provided where one can store small and important things.      

Engine and Performance

Under the hood the Toyota Etios VXD has a 1 ND- TV, 4 cylinder 8V diesel engine . It is completely a single overhead camshaft design where one camshaft is placed in the cylinder head. It has an engine displacement of about 1364cm3 (cc) . It has the maximum power of 67bhp at the rate of 3800 rotations per minute and the maximum torque output is 170Nm in the range between 1800 to 2400 rotations per minute. While the petrol variants have an intelligent fuel injection system but this is not available in this variant. With the mind blowing fuel economy of 23.59kmpl , which is unparalleled with any other out there, it will surely be a state of the class feature. It is front wheel drive type and has 5 speed manual transmission system . While the engine is neither turbo charged nor super charged but still it manages to influence our mind with high speed and acceleration.                  

Braking and Handling

The braking department hasn’t seen any major changes as a matter of fact not even a single change as per to say cause every model in Etios series has the same ventilated disc as front and drum brakes as rear ones . And again the same story goes with the suspension system of the car. The MacPherson Strut as the front suspension and torsion beam as the rear suspension do provide stability and durability to the tyres as well as engine from any shocks. The tyre type is 185 / 60 R 15 with 15inch being the tyre size. It can easily provide the ground clearance of 170mm and a decent turning circle radius of 4.9m.  

Safety features

The Toyota Etios VXD comes equipped with nearly every safety precautions and features that are available in other cars as of today. The SRS dual airbags are integrated for both driver and passenger. The ABS (Anti Lock Braking System) ensures that one has the control of the car while braking and the EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) also comes handy. The engine immobiliser, keyless entry, door ajar warning, child safety locks, fog lamps are also some of the safety features. Halogen lamps are equipped in headlights for that extra visibility and day night rear view mirror also increases our sight in extreme conditions. The front as well as the side impact beams, centrally mounted fuel tank are other precautionary features for the car.           

Comfort features

Toyota has provided many unique features with Toyota Etios VXD such as cooled glove compartment, a DVD integrated audio player, cleaning air filters, etc . The audio controls on steering wheel, pillow type headrest, USB/AUX in ready audio are also some great additions. Remotely operated trunk and fuel lid opener, seat lumbar support, tilt steering are the other attractions. Obviously it has power steering along with power windows and central locking . But it lacks the parking sensors and the cruise control functions which are a bit disappointing.
