    Great car by Chevy
    To begin with, let me make it clear that I am not a Doctor but I have maintained and driven my car with care. 12th August 2009 was the happy day for me when the first car of my entire family lineage was delivered. The Maruti Alto was our original pick (due to its ultra-low-cost) but one look at its interior color and space made us think otherwise. Being 6-feet tall meant that anyone sitting behind me as the driver would have a crunch of time. Chevrolet was the showroom a couple of miles away, so we decided to go there and BAMM!! the beige interior just clicked. Although it was about INR 60K more than our budget, we just went for it. We had a wonderful experience with the Chevy team and felt at home (in the showroom). The car came, in all its white glory being the apple of my eye and the envy of my neighbors. Back then, there were not many flashy cars on the roads. All of us in the family were pretty inexperienced when it came to owning a car, so things like mileage, road noise, seat comfort, etc. were all over-looked. As I grew up with the car, I started to notice how much more comfortable the ride was when compared to the WagonR (owned by a friend). Although the interior space couldn't rival the tall-boy, the interior quality sure did. It felt like a step-up when it came to the interiors and by some means the exterior as well (I was always a fan of those candy-like red tail lights). Ahh but then the warranty ended and boy did it take a turn for the worst. The marketing gimmick was a three-year, no service charge warranty? which they did deliver. What they failed to mention was that the dividends you earned during those three years were going to leave your pockets at warp speeds. It started with the AC. The AC unit in my Spark was so bad that I got it fixed 3 times before just giving up and getting the whole thing swapped for a new unit. It cost a bomb! The power window system is pretty bad as well. Thankfully I had manual rear windows which I now feel proud of. (FYI: The driver side power window failed and I haven't repaired it in over a year.) That's how frustrated I am with its electrical system. The one thing that hasn?t let me down is the engine performance. It is strong and linear although it is a puny 1 liter. It's not as noisy as the other 1 liter units I've driven and has never given me any issue whatsoever. The ride quality is still plush, comparable to some of today's similarly priced rivals. Its been seven years running and being driven around for about 15K Kms, I fell I have under-used my car (part of it being a very competitive on-road parking). But as much as I have used it, I feel it was fine-old fella. The joy of your first car can never be replicated or repeated (unless your second or the tenth car is a Lambo) but then I feel I'm ready to depart from my friend. I guess it makes sense to stick to industry norms and go with the best selling brands in the business. After all, there is a reason why Maruti is no.1. The after-sales service was not up to my expectations and nor was my car.

    Good but parts are costly
    Overall car is good, there is low maintenance but when came to parts and servicing, it lacks down. parts are very expensive and servicing is also a problem. you will not get easily parts and if you get, these are costly. at last, you will not get a good to resale value even if you have top variant compared to other brands like Maruti or Hyundai. lastly, good car but the parts are very expensive.

    What started as a spark did sparkle!
    We always love when the underdog overcomes all the hurdles and reaches the finish line. In fact, we lift the gleaming trophy with them, in our minds! Such was my feeling when my "Sparkie" arrived at our home after winning the hearts of everyone in my family. My wife bowled over by the higher stance & plush ride (for its price), mom knocked off by the roomy cabin & practicality and finally, the 'not-so-forgiving' dad praising his simple-n-neat interiors. Needless to say, I was the first wicket to go...ha ha. Heck, even my friends who looked down at first started realizing the value-for-money soon after.....the compact yet city friendly nature, 1-liter engine, decent mileage, and the space factor. All those add-ons (read music system, 4-door power windows, leather seat cover, and remote keys) were great fits. Well, who isn't excited at the beginning...everyone is. But, let me tell you, things went well after that too...actually pretty well. Nope, I am not exaggerating...there's no need to. I know Chevy doesn't sell a gazillion copies of it each month but my long search-n-research for car purchase did pay off. Having driven nearly 20,000 kilometers, I now can say that this commuter is worth it... FOR ME; I am not the one wanting any bragging rights for owning resale champs. Actually, there is no meaning in celebrating something after it has left you. The fact is, it should make you happier and you should cherish it for that. My adoration for his engine refinement and wonderful suspension would literally outlive him! I have enjoyed those traits time and again. Now, not even the most upbeat films end without a villain. Here, there are a few. In their alphabetic order; after sales service, cabin cooling. mediocre at best, FE not in the teens I am waiting to see the coming of age, safety options ? not even optional, seating is for four unless you have a 5-member family who is all fan of skinny jeans (I will nominate you for Academy if you have). Not always can you shell these villains and bubble them in the air. At times, you just have to walk away, take a side step and move on in life. Being proactive, practical, calm (?those racing nerves), and driving safely can keep you away from them...far away. I have been able to and that's what keeps this ride a pleasant one. Not that the thought of villains won't pop up again but I have moved on and remind myself of the good things Sparkie has to offer. I am lying if I said I did not look over him these days. There are some shiny new guys on the road, now and then. And those guys also get the nicest makeover year over year. But he is nowhere near that the sad part is, he may not be given any more makeovers. That won't stop me from riding with him. At the end of the day, when I pull up the windows, turn on the music and unwind, I do it with ease; for, he soaks all the bumps on my way and makes room for a quiet ride home.

    Spark Car
    Hello guys, I bought a black Chevy Spark in Oct 2014 and am pretty happy since then. Completed 8000 Km until now without any problem. Just get it serviced and maintained on time, drive with a little care and all is well. The dealer Rahul Automobiles here in Ranchi are the best as they provide full service to their customers. My experience with both showroom and workshop is great. If you go to the workshop, all of your problems are fixed they have a very friendly control over all the other staffs and everyone and customers adores them.

    Spark - A Decent Hatchback
    I own the Spark top end petrol car for more than 7 years. It is a decent car. The USP of this car is its value for money. Comparatively, it has most of the features with around 20% less price than its rivals. It has very little maintenance. Mileage is also pretty decent 13/14kmpl in city traffic and 16/17kmpl on highways. However, I feel it has less power at low RPM. Also, looks wise it is not impressive but not bad either. One more downside is it has very few company service centers in the city. But you get a very good response to their service centers. Overall, worth a buy if you compromise on power and looks.

    Awesome car in its segment
    Look and Style- Best in class Comfort- Awesome comfort Pickup- Fully loaded pick-up in petrol Mileage- 16-17kmpl in city and 20-22kmpl on highway Best Features- Noise less engine, awesome power steering Needs to improve- Nothing Overall Experience-Hi, I bought this car in Feb 2009 and have driven in the most dreaded conditions in Pune (as the city is famous for its potholes). I drove a whopping 30,000 km on Petrol with a city mileage of 17-18 km per liter, Highway mileage on petrol is 20-22 km per ltr. The space inside the car is awesome, we were 5 people on a journey of 2500 km in 3 days and the relaxation was just awesome. Seat covers provided by the company 5.5 years back still look as if bought today. The plastic quality is the best too in its class. The shape of the car is aerodynamic which help balance and control on the car is just excellent. Two disc brakes in the front provide the best braking experiences during driving on rough roads. I am satisfied with the service of the car, but the service centers are not putting in their best. Still, I feel my car will go 1.8 lac Kms without any drain as the engine performance is outstanding. I have driven it on Mumbai-Pune expressway at the highest speed of 140 Km/Hour for at least 20 minutes with 5 people in the car. Air conditioning of the car is just awesome, but during scorching heat, if you run on CNG then it would not be the best. But, if you use petrol the air conditioning will never make you sweat.

    Good family car
    Look and Style: Good, cute looking car from outside. From inside the dashboard is okay and the steering wheel can be made handsome looking by some decoration. Comfort: Good comfort. No noise or engine vibration inside the cabin. Pickup: Pickup for petrol is good. on LPG with five people inside, you have to be patient. Mileage: I have driven for around 4000 km now with first servicing recently completed. On the highway with some city traffic, I am consistently getting mileage of around 16 km/l on LPG. On petrol, my guess is 22 km/l should be agreeable. Best Features: LPG variant with sufficient boot space for a small family. Needs to improve: Dashboard looks. Overall Experience: I am pleased with my first car. You should be patient while driving on LPG. At 100 km/h also you have good control of the vehicle. Only things that worry is highly sensitive power steering. I sometimes fear to change gear as small reaction force on right-hand turns the steering wheel. Power assistance to the steering wheel at higher speed should be moderate and not as it is now.

    An all-rounder
    Look and Style: It is a love-hate relationship. While the look from the front mesmerizes, the rear look needs to be improvised. I believe a replacement of the lamps and the bumper at the rear would do the difference. The style within is superb and the plastics are of good quality, unlike the other Indian cars where the plastics make one puke. Comfort: Spacious, my colleagues who are 6'3 were comfortably accommodated in the rear too. I would suggest this test to all the car buyers and you would be shocked by the results. This is an important test as Indian roads are bumpy and you wouldn't like to strain your head/neck. Pickup: Good enough for a small car. I have driven the car in Nepal's ghats too with an excellent pick-up. Covered the road from Sunauli to Kathmandu in 5.5 hours sharp loaded to capacity and bulky relatives and luggage. Mileage: In the city, 12-14 km/l. On highway Surprising at 17~19 km/l. One word of caution, Indian petrol bunks have the ability of pouring 40 litres of petrol in a 32 litre tank. Something, I find difficult to interpret. However, numbers i have quoted are post filling tank to tank at reliable stations. Best Features: Interiors. Recently we have driven the car for continuous 1100 km in 15 hours without a sneeze from the car. I can confidently say you could trust the car for long drives. Needs to improve: Look from the back. Overall Experience: I couldn't believe that most of the electronic linings were done by birth for the car although this was a Standard version. This car had even the linings for the stereo and speaker inbuilt beautifully and was just plug and play. The service is Global and can get a car serviced anywhere in India. Top speed: 150+ I had bought this car, not on a budget but as I had required a small car to fit into my small garage space and local driving. The cars that I had compared before purchase were: Chevy Beat, Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, Maruti Alto, Tata Indica, Tata Nano, Skoda Fabia, Nissan Micra, Hyundai Santro. All petrol. All failed either due to stability, space, comfort, quality of plastics, engine dependability or vibrations.
