Nissan has cleverly positioned the Micra Active a notch lower than its earlier segment. The Active in essense is a different line-up of Nissan Micra having a cheaper price tag. With a starting price of around Rs 3.5 lakhs the Micra is now competing with the smaller sized Chevrolet Beat and the Maruti Wagon R. This means that the Micra Active promises excellent value for money. The Micra Active carries the Micra facelift but it has some key difference with the more expensive Micra. At the front the Micra Active gets a different look with a new bumper sans fog lamps and a simpler black grille. Unlike in the more expensive Micra there is no chrome. Of course there are no alloys instead you get plastic wheel caps. The other changes include the fact that door handles and side view mirrors are not body coloured in the XE variant while the XV and XV safety get them. Micra Active range comes in six different colours to choose from: Turquoise Blue (new), Blade Silver, Storm White, Onyx Black, Aqua Green and Brick Red. Get inside and the same spacious Micra cabin greets you. However in the Active you get fixed headrests and a new colour sheme. You may think that Nissan has simped on the features but you are wrong as the Micra Active has all the basic like tilt steering, power windows, central locking, keyless entry and audio system with USB. Do note that the base XE gets only tilt steering, power steering, cupholder and manual AC. Space is same as in the other new Micra and it has an airy cabin. Micra Active is powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine developing 68PS at 5000rpm and 104Nm at 4000rpm. This engine feels adequate for city use and in fact its decent in the highways also! Efficiency is very important and the Micra Active scores well in this regard as it delivers 19.49 kmpl which is indeed very good. The Micra Active is quite easy to drive in the city and light steering is one of the reasons. Nissan has also provided a lot of safety features on the Micra Active with Dual airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, immobilizer, speed sensing door locks and central locking.
